Sam Burns is celebrating his first career PGA Tour victory. The 24-year-old fired a three-under 68 in Sunday’s final round of the Valspar Championship in Florida to beat Keegan Bradley by three strokes. Burns finished at 17-under-par for the tournament. Viktor Hovland and Cameron Tringale tied for third at minus-13. Nashville’s Brandt Snedeker tied for 11th at eight under par, Louisville area native Justin Thomas tied for 13th at seven under and Campbellsville native JB Holmes was 68th at seven over par. Up next, the PGA Tour heads to Charlotte for the Wells Fargo Championship beginning Thursday at Quail Hollow.

Mike Weir ended a 13 year drought Sunday and won the rain shortened PGA Tour Champions Insperity Invitational. Weir finished at 10 under and was a two shot winner over John Daly, David Toms and Tim Petrovic. Franklin’s Kenny Perry tied for 11th at four under par.
