Kentucky Comeback program looking to help those in recovery from substance abuse find employment

The Kentucky Chamber of Commerce is working to help those who have struggled with substance abuse find employment in the state and encourage other businesses to give people a second chance.

Ashley McCarty is the director of the Recovery Program through the state Chamber and says that one in three Americans will battle with addiction in their lifetime, and this program is set to help them recover from that with gainful employment.

Through that effort, it also helps businesses and agencies fill much-needed positions—McCarty says it’s her job to help them determine best practices and how to best meet the needs of those in recovery. She says more information, for both agencies and interested individuals looking for work, can be found on online here.

This mission is very important to McCarty, who struggled with addiction and joblessness herself, and now she wants to help others rise up out of bad situations.

Numerous businesses, agencies and organizations across the state have already partnered with the program, and McCarty says they’re always looking for more to join on.  Several Hopkinsville locations are already on board, including Martinrea, Western Kentucky Medical and Hinkle Construction Services are on the list, and more information about how to partner can be found on the Kentucky Chamber website.
