Two Todd County students selected for Governor’s Scholars program

Two Todd County Central High School students have been chosen for the Governor’s Scholars Program.

Juniors Josh Gillespie and Taylor Byrd were among 1,020 high school juniors selected from across the state.

The residential program is held over five weeks on the campuses of Centre College in Danville, Morehead State University in Morehead, and Bellarmine University in Louisville. While on campus for the program, students take in-depth exploratory and inquiry classes, conduct service projects, and participate in clubs, discussions, and lecture sessions.

Students chosen for the program must complete an extensive application which includes essays, descriptions of their service, activities, and awards, teacher and community recommendations, and academic information including a standardized test score like the ACT.
