Woman indicted for death of infant in Clarksville

A woman has been arrested for the death of her infant child after a Montgomery County grand jury indicted her for murder.

The two-month old baby was taken to Tennova Health Hospital unresponsive on January 9 and Clarksville police say the child was then transferred to Vanderbilt Children’s Hospital.

Three days later, the infant died from the head injuries.

Detective Michael Patterson says investigation determined the child sustained the injuries while in the care of the mother.

The case was presented to a Montgomery County grand jury and an indictment for first-degree murder and aggravated child abuse was returned against the mother—19-year old Whitney Brown.

Brown was arrested Friday in Nashville and later transferred to the Montgomery County Jail
