Todd County had state’s second-lowest unemployment rate in 2020

Todd County had Kentucky’s second-lowest unemployment rate last year, but the pandemic put the jobless number above 2019 in 119 of 120 counties.

The 2020 jobless rate in Todd County was 4.8 percent, a full percentage point higher than 2019, according to the Kentucky Center for Statistics.

Christian County had a larger spike—from 5.4 percent in 2019 to 7.8 percent in 2020.

There was a similar experience in Trigg County, coming in at 6.9 percent last year after registering at 4.6 percent the prior year.

Carlisle County had Kentucky’s lowest unemployment rate in 2020 at 4.7 percent and Magoffin County in Eastern Kentucky had the highest number at 16.1 percent.

The state average was 6.6 percent, less than the national rate of 8.1 percent.
