Sanctuary, Incorporated is putting out the word about Sexual Assault Awareness and Prevention Month in April with events and outreach initiatives.
The focus of this year’s outreach is teaching about the importance of consent in all relationships, with Community Educator Carrie Norvell saying there will be events throughout the month, including Wear Denim Day on April 28 and the Chalk the Walk event on April 23. She says they’ll also be putting out more information on ‘self-care kits’ that will be handed out through the public libraries across the region.
She says they’re advocating for people to step up and help if they’re aware of a violent situation.
Norvell says Sanctuary, Inc. is here to help anyone in need in the nine county region, and they can be reached through a 24/7 crisis hotline.
Sanctuary staff will be set up a several different coffee shops throughout the month of April, where they will be handing out information about the importance of consent. You can make a donation to Sanctuary and receive a coffee mug in return.
