Area likely to see warmest week of 2021 so far

This should be the warmest week so far this year and the warming trend is expected to continue into next week.

During the weekly weather conference call Monday with the National Weather Service in Paducah, Warning Coordination Meteorologist Rick Shanklin said highs will be in the upper 70’s until rain moves in Wednesday afternoon and evening.

Severe thunderstorms are not likely Wednesday, but Shanklin says they’re also not out of the question and they’ll continue monitoring the risk until the event arrives.

Rainfall amounts should be between a half inch and an inch and flooding is not a concern right now.

The long-term outlook for April 12-18 shows warmer and drier than weather expected.

A recap of March showed the month was warmer and wetter than average across the region.
