College Basketball Roundup

For the first time ever two schools from the state of Texas have reached the NCAA Final Four as top-seeded Baylor battles second-seeded Houston. The other national semifinal features top-overall-seed and undefeated Gonzaga taking on 11th-seeded UCLA.

The Bulldogs, now 30-and-0, are trying to become just the eighth team all-time to finish with a perfect season and national championship, but first in more than four decades. The last team to run the table and win the title was Bobby Knight’s Indiana Hoosiers back in 1976. The Bruins are on that list four times with their most recent perfect season in 1973. This season, UCLA became just the second team ever to go from the First Four to the Final Four.

Oklahoma basketball is closing in on naming a new head coach. Reports say the program is expected to hire Loyola Chicago’s Porter Moser. The 52-year-old spent 10 seasons with the Ramblers, which included a trip to the FInal Four in 2018 and a Sweet 16 appearance this year. Moser replaces former OU coach Lon Kruger, who announced his retirement last week after a decade with the Sooners.
