A Hopkinsville High School student is in police custody after a weapon reportedly went off accidentally at the school Monday.
According to a news release from Christian County Public Schools Spokesperson John Rittenhouse, the incident occurred around 3:18 p.m. when the weapon was discharged at the high school, with investigation determining the weapon had discharged while inside of a backpack.
The student who was in possession of the gun was taken into custody and the investigation continues. No students were injured in the incident.
