National group granting vest for K9 to CCSO

The Christian County Sheriff’s Office is receiving a bullet and stab-proof vest for one of its police dogs thanks to the generosity of the non-profit organization “Vested Interest in K9’s.”

Their mission is to provide bullet and stab protective vests and other assistance to dogs of law enforcement and related agencies throughout the United States and Christian County Sheriff’s Deputy Chris Miller says the local department was successful in getting a vest for K9 Zico, whose handler is Deputy Sam Suiter.

Deputy Miller reminds that K9’s are in as much danger as their human handlers and often are the first to go into a potentially dangerous situation.

Zico’s vest is sponsored by Cheryl Marie of Naples, FL and will be embroidered with the sentiment “In memory of Buca & Indy”. Delivery is expected within eight to 10 weeks.
