Fiscal court hears update on library, approves waste tire management agreement

Christian Fiscal Court approved the 2021 Waste Tire Management program agreement and heard an update from the Hopkinsville-Christian County Public Library at Tuesday’s meeting.

Executive Director Deanna Sova says things continue as mostly normal at the library, despite lingering COVID-19 protocols, with the library seeing about 100 patrons a day that use one of their many services they offer.

She says the local Imagination Library is also still sending out books to about 3,600 children under the age of five each month in the community.

Magistrates approved the 2021 Waste Tire Management program agreement, allowing Judge-Executive Steve Tribble to sign the agreement—he says the event takes place every three years and will take place in May this year, where they will accept tire drop offs.

Animal Shelter Director Irene Grace gave her monthly report, saying the facility took in 181 animals during the month of February and rehomed 163, which she says is a decent number considering weather impacts and other events that took place last month.
