Ky. adds 294 COVID-19 cases, positivity rate continues to decline

Kentucky Governor Andy Beshear gave an update on COVID-19 Monday, reporting 294 new cases and says the state trends continue to show Kentuckians are winning the fight against the virus.

Governor Beshear says vaccines continue to make a difference in case numbers, and the biggest proof of that is long term care facilities, which only had two new cases reported in those facilities across the state Monday.

Approximately 1.2 million people in the state have gotten at least their first dose of the vaccine, and Governor Beshear says if you’re still hesitant about getting it, he urges you to reconsider to keep yourself and others healthy.

Once again the positivity rate was below three percent, at 2.93 percent, and there were 11 more deaths reported, putting that total at 5,799 since the pandemic began, and there were 50 backlogged deaths from the recent audit.

The governor says hospitalizations, individuals in the ICU and individuals on a ventilator all continue to decline across the state.

The Tennessee Department of Health reported 732 new cases Monday, and they reported 0 new deaths in the Volunteer State—the positivity rate there is now 6.92 percent.
