Ky. has 10 weeks of declining COVID-19 cases

Kentucky Governor Andy Beshear reported 316 new cases of COVID-19 Sunday, and that it’s now 10 weeks in a row that the state has had a declining number of cases.

The good news continued, with the governor reporting a positivity rate of 2.97 percent, the lowest it has been since July 3, and he says 139,500 Kentuckians received their first COVID-19 vaccine this week, bringing that total to approximately 1.1 million vaccines distributed.

He did report 16 new deaths, which he says is a reminder that this virus remains deadly and that people need to keep up those health guidelines that are so important for just a little while longer. The death toll in the Commonwealth is up to 5,738.

Todd and Trigg counties remain ‘yellow’ on the state incidence rate map, with Christian County is labeled as ‘orange’—both Hopkins and Lyon counties are ‘red’.
