Deadline to apply for Elizabeth Stone Educational Fund scholarships approaching

The Elizabeth Stone Educational Fund is still accepting scholarship applications from local students in Christian County.

Mike Chadwell with First Christian Church Board of Trustees appeared on WHOP recently and says the clock is winding down on getting those applications in, since the deadline is March 31 for no just graduating seniors, but non-traditional students as well.

The $5,000 scholarships are paid at $1,250 per semester for four semesters and last year the Elizabeth Stone Fund awarded $55,000 in scholarships to local students.

Student loans are also available from the Elizabeth Stone Fund, which Chadwell says it how the program began, which was started by Dr. James Edward Stone in 1952 in honor of his wife.

Applications are available from school guidance counselors or can be downloaded by going to elizabethstonefund.org. The fund is administered by the Trustees of First Christian Church in Hopkinsville.
