Two arrested after Hopkins County pursuit

A pursuit Monday night on the Western Kentucky Parkway in Hopkins County led to the arrests of two people.

Trooper Kirby Broadbent attempted to stop a vehicle driven by 38-year old Michael Pierce of Lexington for speeding, but Pierce allegedly accelerated before merging onto Interstate 69 northbound.

Spike strips were used to deflate a tire and Pierce came to a stop near the 107 mile-marker.

Pierce and his passenger, Jerrell Christian of Paducah, were both arrested and charged with trafficking in synthetic drugs and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Pierce was also charged with DUI and fleeing or evading police.
