Man arrested following road rage incident involving gun

A Hopkinsville man was arrested Saturday afternoon following an alleged road rage incident involving a gun at the Love’s truck stop on Fort Campbell Boulevard.

An arrest citation for 50-year old Danny Thompson of Hopkinsville says he became upset with a truck driver he believed cut him off on Fort Campbell Boulevard.

Thompson followed the truck driver into the parking lot of Love’s and the victim stopped to see why he was being followed.

That’s when Thompson allegedly jumped onto the cab and struck the driver on the face with his hands before getting down and pointing a loaded pistol at the truck driver.

Hopkinsville police arrested Thompson soon after and the police report says his gun was loaded with hollow point ammunition.

Thompson was charged with first-degree wanton endangerment, fourth-degree assault and use of restricted ammunition during commission of a felony.
