Hopkinsville Parks and Recreation has full schedule of events planned

The Hopkinsville Parks and Recreation Department has been impacted heavily by COVID-19, but officials say they’re eagerly looking forward to a new year as cases continue to decline locally.

Speaking with the Kiwanis Club of Hopkinsville Thursday, Superintendent Tab Brockman says they’re ready to put the pandemic at their back and bring multiple events for the people to enjoy, even though they have pushed back some to be safe.

The annual WHOP’er of an egg hunt is set to take place on April 3 at Tie Breaker Park at 11 a.m., with Brockman saying you’d be shocked at how fast those eggs are hunted.

They also plan to have the Summer Salute back this year, and they will be announcing a new headline musical act in the near future.

Fridays at Five will be back in June, but now they’ll be called Sounds at Six—Brockman says the later time will let more people attend and hopefully be cooler during the summer months.

Parks and Recreation has a full, year-round schedule of events that can be viewed on their website and social media outlets, with Brockman saying they will continue to work closely with the Christian County Health Department to make sure they’re abiding by all health and safety guidelines.  All 17 parks and the Hopkinsville Planters Back Jennie Stuart Health Sportsplex are open and waiting for people to enjoy.
