The Christian County Sheriff’s Department cited a man Friday for cruelty to animals after they say his horses were found without proper food, water or shelter.
Deputy Mark Nichols went to Justin Lane and found four adult horses and two miniature ponies that had no food or water, according to the citation. There was no shelter available and several of the horses had harness marks on their head and face where the harness had been left on for too long.
Police say two of the horses appeared to be malnourished and that it was not the first time they’d received complaints about the animals not receiving proper care. Deputy Nichols cited 35-year old Timothy Moss of Hopkinsville for second-degree cruelty to animals.
