Western Kentucky junior center Charles Bassey was named Conference USA Player of the Year and Defensive Player of the Year on Tuesday. He’s the fourth player in league history to win both awards in the same season and the first Player of the Year honoree since Orlando Mendez-Valdez in the Sun Belt Conference in 2008-09. WKU faces either Charlotte or UTSA in its first game of the Conference USA tournament tomorrow night with pregame at 5 on News Radio 95.3 FM/1230 AM WHOP.
