Ky. adds 1,175 COVID-19 cases, 33 deaths

Kentucky Governor Andy Beshear gave a brief update on COVID-19 Wednesday, reporting 1,175 new cases in the Commonwealth.

The positivity rate dropped to 4.6 percent and the governor says there’s only been one other Wednesday in recent months that had lower reported cases than this one.  Vaccine rollout continues to pick up speed, with now more than 731,000 Kentuckians having had at least the first dose.  Governor Beshear says that increasing number is the real countdown clock on putting this pandemic behind us for good.

He also reported 33 new deaths, putting the death toll at 4,704 since the pandemic began—the amount of Kentuckians in the hospital due to coronavirus has dropped to 680.
