The ground was officially broken during a ceremony Wednesday morning for the new speculative building on Frank Yost Lane, which is the result of a partnership between the South Western Kentucky Economic Development Council and other agencies.
EDC Executive Director Carter Hendricks says this building will prove very valuable to the community moving forward, hopefully attracting large industries that can benefit the economy of not just Christian county, but Todd and Trigg as well.
Lee Conrad is the Chair of the EDC Board of Directors and says this is not the first of these type of buildings the area has seen, and those prior sites resulted in thousands of jobs locally.
Hopkinsville Mayor Wendell Lynch says the city was happy to partner in this project, along with the Christian Fiscal County, the Tennessee Valley Authority, the Kentucky Commission for Economic Development and the Hopkinsville Industrial Foundation.
The spec building, once construction is completed, will span approximately 100,000 square feet, support all required utilities an industry would need and will be considered a Kentucky build ready site.
