An arrest warrant for criminal abuse was served Tuesday against a Todd County man accused of injuring an infant.
An arrest warrant obtained by the Todd County Sheriff’s Office against 20-year old Ashton Powell of Allensville says an eight-week old baby was brought to Logan Memorial Hospital December 4 with bruising and injuries to the left side of the face.
Medical personnel determined the injuries to be consistent with abuse and to be consistent with being struck with an open hand.
Further evaluation determined the infant had broken ribs on the right side of the body and broken ribs on the left side that were at least partially healed, indicating those injuries happened at an earlier time.
Police say Powell admitted to being alone with the infant on December 3, the day the bruising appeared.
Powell is charged with second-degree criminal child abuse.
