Police in Hopkinsville and Montgomery County are investigating recent thefts of catalytic converters.
Someone cut the converter off a vehicle between Friday night and Monday morning at Superior Truck on West 15th Street in Hopkinsville, according to a report filed with HPD, with lists the value of the part at $600.
Meanwhile, the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office is warning the public about an increase in thefts of catalytic converters—particularly in the areas of Industrial Boulevard and near Sango.
There have been 14 thefts in Montgomery County since December.
Investigator Tim Adair says at this time, it seems criminals are targeting commercial vehicles and that business owners can help deter thefts by securing their commercial vehicles behind a locked fence.
