A woman who had been previously charged with assault has now been charged with murder, in connection with the January shooting death of a man in Madisonville.
According to a news release, the shooting occurred on Liberty Church Loop on January 23, where 66-year old William Matheny of Madisonville was discovered with a gunshot wound and taken to the hospital in critical condition. At the time, 48-year old Tara Skaggs of Madisonville was arrested and charged with first-degree assault.
Matheny died of his injuries on January 29 and following a preliminary hearing Friday in Hopkins District Court, Skaggs’ first-degree assault charge was amended to murder. Skaggs’ bond was also increased to $500,000.
