Kentucky reports sixth straight week of declining COVID cases

Kentucky has now gone six consecutive weeks with declining numbers of new COVID-19 cases.

Governor Andy Beshear announced 979 new cases Sunday and a positivity rate that fell to 6.72 percent.

Another 21 Kentuckians died, bringing the commonwealth’s death toll to 4,447.

There are 902 Kentuckians in the hospital, 248 are in the ICU and 148 are on a ventilator.

Christian and Todd counties remain orange on the incidence rate map and Trigg is yellow. Caldwell County is the only red county in the Pennyrile region.

Tennessee reported 1,129 new cases and 18 additional deaths Sunday. Hospitalizations increased to 1,010 and the Volunteer State’s positivity rate is 8.11 percent.
