Salvation Army meets needs during bitter cold, snow, ice

Bitter cold weather and three successive winter storms during a pandemic has kept the Salvation Army of Hopkinsville busy, but they’ve been able to meet the challenges to help those who are in desperate need of a meal and a warm place to sleep.

Alisha Barton is the Director of Social Services and says the Salvation Army shelter has been busy throughout the cold snap.

The Salvation Army relies heavily on the community’s help and Barton says they can always use items like bottled drinks and blankets.

While the Salvation Army has been able to meet the community’s needs, Barton says they’ll be glad to see warmer weather next week.
