Princeton man charged with strangulation

The Princeton Police Department has charged a man with first-degree strangulation following an incident in Princeton Monday.

According to a news release, officers responded to reports of domestic violence occurring in the 400 block of Rose Avenue.  Investigation determined that a physical altercation had occurred between the victim and 36-year old Steven Downs of Princeton where the victim was allegedly choked around the neck.

Downs was located and taken into custody—he was charged with first-degree strangulation, which is a felony, fourth-degree assault domestic violence and resisting arrest.
