Ellis dies after officer-involved shooting

The Hopkinsville man shot in an officer-involved shooting Thursday night in Logan County has died from his injuries.

Multiple sources confirm 44-year old Brian Ellis died Friday night. Ellis had been sought by police since he allegedly cut his ankle monitor off at a gas station Wednesday morning and fled the area to avoid final sentencing in Christian Circuit Court for a pair of shooting incidents last September in Christian County.

Kentucky State Police say deputies with the Logan County Sheriff’s Office were called to the Russellville Walmart Thursday night to attempt to locate Ellis.

When they found him inside a car, Ellis allegedly drove the vehicle toward deputies and shots were fired, according to a news release.

Ellis sustained a gunshot wound and was transported to an area hospital, where he died Friday night.
