James Gentry, the man charged in the 2018 shooting death of Keith Hayes in Trigg County, appeared in Trigg Circuit Court virtually Wednesday to request another bond modification.
Circuit Judge C.A. Woody Woodall had previously modified Gentry’s bond to $10,000 cash, but defense attorney Michael Thompson requested it be reduced down to $5,000 for Gentry’s family to afford it. Gentry told the court he had thought he could manage $10,000, but it wasn’t possible.
Commonwealth’s Attorney Carrie Ovey-Wiggins opposed further modification, based on the seriousness of his charges.
Judge Woodall denied the motion for further modification. Gentry is set for another pre-trial hearing to take place in June.
Gentry is charged with murder, first-degree robbery and possession of a handgun by a convicted felon. As previously reported, Gentry allegedly admitted to Kentucky State Police that he was present when Hayes was shot multiple times on November 27. He also reportedly admitted to transporting Hayes to the location on Buffalo Road in Trigg County where he was killed and later located.
