Commonwealth’s Attorney Neil Kerr will be pursuing a felony indictment for forgery against a Guthrie city council member accused of lying on paperwork she completed to file for election.
Kerr says he’ll ask a Todd County grand jury to indict Doreen Lynch for forgery in the second-degree.
Lynch reportedly asserted she was not a convicted felon when she filed her papers to run for council in 2020 and Kerr says investigation by the Kentucky Attorney General’s Office determined she had been previously convicted of evading arrest in Tennessee, which is a Class E felony.
The investigation began after former councilman Chad Johnson filed a formal complaint with the Todd County Board of Elections.
The top six vote-getters are elected to council in Guthrie. Lynch received the fifth most votes in November at 225 and Johnson received the seventh most at 217, according to numbers from the clerk’s office.
