Kentucky Transportation Cabinet Crews have been pre-treating major roadways in advance of the expected winter weather this week.
Spokesperson Keirsten Jaggers says cabinet personnel have begun pre-treating the highways in anticipation of freezing rain.
The focus is on bridges, overpasses and other potential trouble spots.
When brine is sprayed on pavement, it dries to leave a fine powder coating of salt that sticks to the road surface and is available to be activated in the early hours of a snow and ice event.
Motorists should be alert and slow down for KYTC trucks.
