Pandemic utility assistance program moving ahead

Implementation of a new pandemic utility assistance program continued with Christian Fiscal Court Tuesday morning and Jailer Brad Boyd says Kentucky jailers are pursuing an increase in the per diem they receive for housing state inmates.

Amy Frogue says Christian Fiscal Court is applying for $200,000 in Community Development Block Grant COVID Utility Assistance and households will be able to go to the PACS office and apply for assistance with overdue utility bills.

Frogue says Christian County will be able to apply for a second round if the first $200,000 is exhausted.

Jailer Boyd’s updated policy and procedure manual and the jail fee schedule were approved without dissent and Boyd says the state jailers’ association is pushing the state to increase the daily amount it pays local jails to house state inmates.

In other action, Judge-Executive Steve Tribble appointed Matt Baker to the Airport Board and re-appointed Kenneth Bates to the same panel.
