Lawmakers still waiting on budget proposal from conference committee

This week of the Kentucky General Assembly wrapped up Thursday without a budget proposal in hand, but that doesn’t mean it’s being put off to the last minute as it has in years past.

State Senator Whitney Westerfield of Christian County is disappointed to have not seen a one-year spending plan proposed by the budget conference committee, but he’s still hopeful it’ll get moving soon.

Representative Myron Dossett of Pembroke says it’s still being ironed out with a priority on sending federal CARES Act funding to the appropriate places.

Lawmakers want to have a budget on the governor’s desk prior to the veto recess and Representative Walker Thomas doesn’t believe it will take them to the deadline.
