Man seriously injured in Elkton stabbing, stepson arrested

A man was severely injured in a stabbing incident Wednesday afternoon in Elkton and his stepson was arrested.

Elkton police were called to 107 Morningside Drive regarding a domestic altercation in progress and were talking to the caller outside when officers heard sounds of another altercation inside.

A police report says they found 37-year old Robert Larue on top of his stepfather, 68-year old Phillip Whittaker, on a bed. He allegedly had a knife in his hand and was brandishing it above his head as if in the middle of a stabbing motion.

Whittaker was covered in blood beneath him and Larue followed commands from officers to put the knife down, according to the report.

Larue was arrested for first-degree assault (domestic violence) and Whittaker was flown to Skyline Medical Center in Nashville with four stab wounds that are described on the report as major injuries.
