Arraignment held for stabbing suspect

Arraignment was held Wednesday morning for the man charged with assault for a December 26 stabbing incident on South Main Street.

Public Defender Rick Sandborne entered a not guilty plea on behalf of 51-year old John Chambers of Hopkinsville and Judge John Atkins set his next court date for March 3.

Hopkinsville police were called to the 300 block of South Main outside near the Manhattan Motel a few minutes before 9 p.m. on December 26 and determined Chambers had been in a verbal dispute with Maurice Catlett that became physical.

That’s when Chambers allegedly stabbed Catlett multiple times, causing injuries to his arm that sent him to Jennie Stuart Medical Center.
