CCPS continues to monitor COVID-19 cases closely as in-person learning goes on

For a lot of Christian County Public School System students, things are starting to get back to normal as in-person instruction continues in the district.

During a weekly press conference, Superintendent Chris Bentzel says things continue to go smoothly for re-entry, and although their quarantine numbers are high right now at 202, the number of active cases for staff members has really decreased.

The number of student active COVID-19 cases is at 26 in-person and two in the Virtual Learning Academy.  Superintendent Bentzel says about 600 staff members are set to receive the second dose of the coronavirus vaccine in the coming weeks.

He says they continue to work closely with health officials in the community and keep an eye on active case numbers, incidence rate and hospitalizations—but right now, they’re all in for in-person learning.

The school system had good success in locating the majority of high school students that weren’t reporting back to school—that number was reduced from around 300 down to less than 50 since last Tuesday.  The CCPS COVID-19 data dashboard can be viewed on the Christian County Public School Facebook page
