CCHD gives local COVID-19 update

The Christian County Health Department gave an update on COVID-19 locally Wednesday, while reporting 36 new cases.

According to an update, that puts the overall total at 5,571—of that, 408 cases are considered active and 5,089 people have recovered from the virus.  Christian County has had 74 COVID-19 related deaths.

Vaccine rollout continues locally, with around 4,000 individuals including medical providers, healthcare workers, first responders, school personnel, and individuals over the age of 70 receiving the first dose of the Moderna vaccine.  While the state is currently in phase 1A, the health department is working its way through phase 1B as vaccinations become available.  At the moment, there is no known start date for phase 1C locally.

The Christian County Health Department will continue to provide free PCR COVID-19 testing at Tie Breaker Park on Mondays and Wednesdays from 9 a.m. until 10:45 p.m. through at least February 28.  Jennie Stuart Health has tested 14,971 individuals and the Christian County Health Department has tested roughly 30,000 individuals.

There are currently 20 COVID positive patients housed in Jennie Stuart Medical Center.
