Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes has cleared some hurdles but is still in the NFL’s concussion protocol. ESPN reports Mahomes has made important progress so far but he must clear other steps this week in order to return to action. It’s unclear at this point if he will be ready to go for Sunday’s AFC Championship Game against the Buffalo Bills.

Tampa Bay Buccaneers wide receiver Antonio Brown has no structural damage in his knee and is considered “day to day.” Brown injured the knee during the Bucs’ 30-20 win over the New Orleans Saints in the Divisional Round last weekend. The Buccaneers face Green Bay in the NFC Championship Game Sunday.

NFL referee Sarah Thomas will become the first woman to officiate the Super Bowl in league history on February 7th. Thomas will be the down judge in the seven-person crew of on-field officials in Tampa Bay. Thomas is in her sixth season as an NFL referee.
