CCMS teacher receives STEM grant

TVA, Bicentennial Volunteers Incorporated, and Hopkinsville Electric System, have awarded a science, technology, engineering, and mathematics grant to Amanda Huff, science teacher at Christian County Middle School.

A news release from the school system says the grant is a part of $800,000 in grants from TVA to public school educators to develop STEM education projects.

Huff’s program, “Engineering Energy in 7th Grade Science” will allow students to learn about the different forms of energy; and then build a small model car that will be tested and modified to meet certain scientific criteria.

Huff is quoted in a news release as saying, “‘Engineering Energy in 7th Grade Science’ will be a chance for students to better understand the concept of energy. I am truly excited to get the opportunity to give the students this kind of hands on learning experience.”
