Evidence to be reviewed in Streeval murder case

The defense in the murder case against Montie Streeval, the man charged with murder in connection with the shooting death of 25-year old Cameron Phillips, has been granted more time to go over evidence in the case.

Streeval appeared virtually before Trigg Circuit Judge C.A. Woody Woodall Wednesday afternoon, with defense attorney Jason Pfeil saying he has received an extensive amount of evidence and requested more time to go through it all.

Commonwealth’s Attorney Carrie Ovey-Wiggins says there is even more evidence to be turned over, once lab testing results come back in, so Judge Woodall granted the continuance.  He set a pretrial hearing for March 10 at 1 p.m.

Phillips’ body was found August 6 in a wood line near Old Rocky Point Road. Kentucky State Police Detective David Dick testified during a preliminary hearing recently and says investigation determined Phillips died from a single gunshot wound to the head.  Streeval allegedly admitted to driving Phillips to Trigg County for a drug deal.

Detective Dick says Streeval has neither admitted nor denied killing Phillips. Streeval is charged with murder and possession of a handgun by a convicted felon.
