Negotiations continue for possible resolution in Greenville Road murder case

Anshanique Leavell, the woman accused of fatally shooting Amareya’ Freeman in 2019, did not enter a guilty plea as planned Wednesday in Christian Circuit Court and negotiations continue.

Defense attorney Michael Thompson told the court that they’ve been working on a possible resolution for some time and asked for a continuance, with the hope of either resolving it then or setting a trial date.

Judge John Atkins set a pretrial hearing for January 28 at 1 p.m. Leavell remains in the Christian County Jail on charges of murder, receiving stolen property and complicity to tampering with physical evidence with a $100,000 bond.

Leavell is accused of shooting Freeman in the chest at a Greenville Road apartment on June 6 of last year.
