Woman arrested on robbery, strangulation charge

An investigation early Monday morning on Woodlawn Drive led to the arrest of a Hopkinsville woman on robbery and strangulation charges.

A male victim told Hopkinsville police that 47-year old Yvette Simpson of Hopkinsville asked him for money and he responded that he didn’t have any.

That’s when Simpson allegedly grabbed the handicapped victim and threw him from his chair to the ground.

She reportedly placed her knee to his neck and took the keys to a vehicle, $13 in cash and the man’s wallet before fleeing the scene in the automobile.

Simpson returned to the area while police were investigating and a search of her jacket revealed the victim’s wallet.

HPD charged Simpson with second-degree robbery and first-degree strangulation.
