Local legislators pleased with bills that limit Gov’s executive powers

Two local members of the Kentucky House are pleased with the measures passed during the first week of the 2021 session to limit the governor’s emergency powers.

State Representative Walker Thomas of Hopkinsville believes Senate Bill 1, particularly, balances the governor’s emergency powers with accountability to citizens and checks and balances in the state Constitution.

Representative Myron Dossett of Pembroke believes Governor Andy Beshear has done what he believes is right with his pandemic measures, but wants more transparency and communication with the legislature when mandates are issued or renewed.

We will air the governor’s State of the Commonwealth and Budget address and updates from local legislators beginning at 9 a.m. Sunday on Lite Rock 98.7 and online at lite987whop.com.
