College Football

Former Vanderbilt head coach Derek Mason has landed a new job. Mason will become the defensive coordinator for new Auburn coach Bryan Harsin. Mason was fired as Vanderbilt’s head coach last November.

College Basketball

The University of South Carolina men’s basketball team is sidelined due to new cases of the coronavirus. Officials say a number of people connected to the team have tested positive and through contact tracing, many more are now in quarantine. The outbreak has forced the cancellation of the Gamecocks matchup with Ole Miss scheduled for Saturday. This will be the sixth game USC has had to cancel or postpone due to the coronavirus.

MLB

Former Los Angeles Dodgers manager Tommy Lasorda passed away late last night at age 93. Lasorda had been hospitalized for the last couple of months before returning home this past week. Lasorda was with the Dodger organization for seven decades and served as manager from 1976-1996.

NHL

The Dallas Stars’ season is on hold after multiple players and staff members contracted coronavirus. The NHL announced today they had closed the Stars training facility in Frisco so contact tracing and testing can be performed. Dallas was supposed to start the season against Florida next week but those games have been postponed.
