Murray State splits twin-bill at Eastern Illinois

Murray State split a men’s/women’s doubleheader at Eastern Illinois.The Racers saw a 13-point lead slip away in the final minutes and suffer a 74-68 to the Panthers. The Racers (4-6) were also trying for their first road win of the 2020-21 season. The Racers have lost four straight Ohio Valley Conference games and are 1-4.
Chico Carter, Jr., led the Racers with 15 points off the bench while KJ Williams scored 13. Tomorrow’s game at SIU Edwardsville is postponed because of established protocols. The Racers’ next game is next Thursday at Southeast Missouri State.

In the women’s game, Murray State showed that it made full use of its 19-day layoff Thursday, by beating Eastern Illinois, 76-68. The Racers (4-3, 1-1 OVC) are back in action tomorrow at SIU Edwardsville with tipoff at 1 pm.
