CCHD reports 108 new cases of COVID-19, a record high

The Christian County Health Department reported 108 new cases of COVID-19 from Tuesday to Wednesday, a new record for the county.

According to a news release, those 108 new cases puts the overall total locally at 4,708—of that, 680 are active, 3,965 have recovered, and the county has had 63 COVID-19 related deaths. Christian County is in the 1A phase for distribution of COVID vaccines and health officials are working to move into phase 1B, which includes those 70 years of age and older, as soon as possible.

Vaccines administered by the health department are Moderna vaccines. This is a 2-part vaccine with the first dose given and 28 days later, the second dose is administered.

COVID-19 testing offered by the health department has changed—they will no longer offer any rapid testing, and standard PCR testing will take place at Tie Breaker Park on Mondays and Wednesdays from 9 a.m. until 10:45 a.m.
