Tennessee woman charged with DUI, heroin trafficking after traffic stop near Guthrie

A traffic stop Monday morning on US 79 near Guthrie led to the arrest of a Tennessee woman on multiple felony charges.

Deputies with the Todd County Sheriff’s Department attempted to stop 34-year old Ashley Abbott of Dover for swerving across the center line multiple times and an arrest citation says she continued driving at a low rate of speed in the ditch until eventually coming to a stop near the livestock auction.

A Guthrie Police Department K9 was deployed and alerted on the vehicle, with a search allegedly turning up heroin in a magnetic box on the frame underneath the driver’s side of the car.

Abbot performed poorly on field sobriety tests and investigation led to her being arrested for DUI, trafficking in heroin, carrying a concealed deadly weapon, reckless driving tampering with evidence and fleeing or evading police.
