Kentucky reports 2,680 new COVID cases, 25 deaths Sunday

There were 2,680 new confirmed cases of COVID-19 and 25 more deaths Sunday in Kentucky.

Governor Andy Beshear also reported 1,677 Kentuckians hospitalized with the virus, 421 in the ICU and 196 on a ventilator.

The state’s positivity rate is 11.1 percent—but that’s likely elevated by some labs and public testing sites being closed for the holidays—which increases the percentage of tests conducted in medical clinics were patients are experiencing symptoms.

Kentucky’s pandemic death toll now stands at 2,723.

Meanwhile, Tennessee reported 4,165 new cases and 55 additional deaths Sunday. There are 3,176 Tennesseans in the hospital with coronavirus and the Volunteer State’s positivity rate stands at 21.41 percent.
