Austin Peay had five players in double figures but it wasn’t enough as Eastern Kentucky defeated the Governors 80-75 at the Dunn Center. Alex Woodard led the Governors with 17 points off the bench with Terry Taylor adding 16 points and eight rebounds. Austin Peay is now 6-4 and 2-2 in the OVC. The Governors play at SIU Edwardsville Thursday.
Just like last season’s matchup between Austin Peay’s women’s basketball and Eastern Kentucky, it was three-pointers and forced turnovers that were the difference for the Governors, who connected 10 times from three-point range and forced the Colonels to turn the ball over 26 times on the way to a 69-51 win. Austin Peay, now 4-2 overall and 2-0 in the OVC, is back in action Monday in a make up game at Tennessee State.
