A work zone along Interstate 24 in Kentucky between the 51 and 65 mile markers will continue to have lane restrictions through the Christmas and New Year’s holiday travel period.
The Kentucky Transportation Cabinet says westbound traffic has returned to normal flow from about the 68 mile marker to the 51 mile marker
Westbound traffic is restricted to one lane from the 65 to about the 68 mile marker until removal of the centerline barrier wall is complete.
Eastbound traffic is running on the new concrete pavement from the 51 to 65 mile marker, however, due to pavement damage from a Wednesday morning truck fire, eastbound traffic is restricted to one lane at the 55 mile marker into January for repairs.
While the length of lane restrictions are substantially shortened, westbound and eastbound lane restrictions along this work zone create the potential for traffic backups during peak holiday travel periods.
